Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Q: Do I need to be flexible to join your splits classes?
A: The only requirement for my splits class is being able to bend forward and reach about halfway down your shins. You don’t need to be anywhere near the floor to start—many students begin with their hips 1–2 feet above the ground. The closer you are, the faster progress usually comes, but I’ll meet you exactly where you are and guide you safely forward.Q: How flexible do I need to be for backbends classes?
A: You should be able to push up into a bridge (ideally with straight arms). This shows me that you already have the basic shoulder, back, and hips mobility to safely start deepening your backbends. If you’re unsure, just reach out through my contact page or DM me on Instagram @myflexyself, and I’ll be happy to assess and get back to you.Q: How often should I practice to see results?
A: The more you practice, the faster you’ll see results—as long as your body has enough time to recover between sessions. From personal experience, two moderate-to-high intensity sessions per week produce noticeable improvements. Even one high-intensity session paired with a lighter session can gradually enhance mobility over time.
Q: What type of flexibility do you focus on?
A: My classes focus on front splits, middle splits, and backbends. Each session blends strength, mobility, and body awareness for long-term flexibility. We usually begin with tools like a lacrosse ball or foam roller to release tight muscles, followed by physiotherapy-inspired strengthening for stability and body control. Then we dive into targeted drills and stretches designed for the specific poses we’re working on that day.Q: Are the classes live or recorded?
A: Classes are taught live so I can give you real-time feedback and corrections. If you can’t make it, a recording will be available for 7 days so you can review or catch up.

A: Please let me know before class if you have any injuries or conditions. I’ll help you modify safely and give you alternative options so you can still train without setbacks.
